Arcachon, France, 17 – 19 June 2024

Objectives

The objective of the conference is to bring together researchers from different communities (applied mathematics, biomechanics, fluid mechanics, physics) working on fundamental problems involving coupling between a fluid and a deformable body. Contributions of work in progress or completed are welcome.

This will be the fifth edition of the ‘Fluid & Elasticity’ conference series. The previous conferences were held in Carry-le-Rouet (2009), La Jolla (2012), Biarritz (2015), and Málaga (2019).

The upcoming edition will be held in the coastal town of Arcachon, France. It will take place over two and a half days (June 17-19, 2024) and will consist of single plenary sessions with five invited lectures (40 minutes) and about 40 selected oral presentations (20 minutes), with ample time outside the formal sessions for participants to meet in a convivial atmosphere.

Topics

Experimental, numerical and theoretical presentations (in-person only, no remote presentations) will be given on problems relevant to the following topics:

Acoustic manipulation/propulsion of particles
Biological internal flows
Elasticity-capillarity coupling
Fluid-structure instabilities
Plants and flows
Swimming/Flying at high Reynolds numbers
Swimming of microorganisms
Viscoelastic media
